Credit Card Companies And Your Privacy

How many of you have telephoned one of your credit card companies to discuss your bill, or to dispute a charge, or to seek reversal of late charges, and you discover you have been transferred to a customer service person in a foreign country such as, India or the Philippines? If this has happened to you, remember this: You can refuse to discuss your account with anyone who is overseas, and you should/must insist on speaking with a customer service representative in the United States. Credit Card companies have outsourced their customer service systems to places like India, the Philippines, Malaysia, and this presents a serious risk of identity theft to you as a consumer, no matter what the companies and banks say about "secured" conversations and "privacy" guarantees.

Such practices violate your privacy, and constitutes a form of chicanery perpetrated against consumers without their knowledge or input! I urge you to:

1-Refuse to discuss your charge account with any person who answers your phone call outside the jurisdiction of United States. Please remember that the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, the Marshall/ Mariana Islands are all U.S. territories, so I am not speaking against these U.S. citizens.
2-Insist on speaking only with a customer service representative in the United States.
3- File a written complaint against the Bank or Credit Card company with the Federal Reserve Bank System in Washington, DC. :
Board of Governors of the
Federal Reserve System
20Th & Constitution Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20551
Also send a copy of your complaint to :
Hon. Nancy Pelosi,
Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives
235 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515
And send a copy to:
Hon. Harry Reid,
Senate Majority Leader
United States Senate
528 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20551

I urge you to help bring about change that benefits all consumers by registering your complaint today. Your privacy is sacred, and your credit standing is very important. Banks and Credit Card companies must do more to protect your rights, and together you and I can level the playing field so that Banks don't hold all the cards in the "Three-card Monte-Oil Can Harry" tactics they engage in to take more money out of your pocket, and your debt never goes down when you make those monthly payments. Fight back by filing your complaint today. Thank you.
