The Republican Primary

Voters can elect Senator John McCain in the upcoming primaries. Senator McCain is the front runner at this point, in the primary contests. Former Governor Mike Huckabee is a decent, courageous and conscientious presidential contender. Our Nation needs him. My hope is that if Senator McCain does in fact win his party's nomination, that he choose Governor Huckabee as his running mate for Vice President. Senator McCain is a venerable war hero, a Vietnam veteran who courageously survived several years as a prisoner of War. No doubt, Senator John McCain is a National hero and a National leader. If Gov. Huckabee does not get the Vice Presidential nod, I hope it goes to Mitt Romney. Romney would make a great President in his own right. His mistake was going too far to the right and in victimizing the powerless by attacking undocumented aliens. These are decent people who are the innocent victims of fate, looking for a job, a roof over their heads, and they deserve no harm or cruelty from anyone. That border wall they are building down by Arizona-New Mexico is 100 years too late! If we are going to build walls like the one in Berlin that was built in 1961 by the Soviet Union, and torn down in 1990, we may as well hang up the sign of open bigotry. And how come we have not build a wall on the vast Canadian border? Is this because Canadians have the skin color that pleases many Americans? Because they speak English like us with no discernible accent?
Our Nation deplores bigotry, and I deplore it from any quarter. We cannot legislate morality anymore than we can promote the ugly face of bigotry. The Republican nominee must consider the implications of supporting the building of a border wall.
